Project Tidy Empty Project Tidy

Post by xr2irhys 25/03/09, 11:15 am

Here is the latest ongoing project with my car that is currently on the road , my aim is to keep the car on the road but at the same time tidy the whole of the car up by treating the rust and replacing the damaged bumpers and touching up where required

Today's work was to sort the front wing remove all the rust and get the panel in primer to protect it from rusting over again , the next part of my project will be to spray the wing the matching colour.

Here is the start of my project.

1.Sand down the bad area
Project Tidy P250309_0249

2.Remove any rust from the bottom of the wing joining onto the sills to prevent any rust holes occurring.
Project Tidy P250309_024901

3.Mask up area around the spraying area to protect from over spray of paint.
Project Tidy P250309_0310

4. Apply a very thin coat of primer onto the area to allow to soak into the metal.
Project Tidy P250309_0319

5. Next coat of primer
Project Tidy P250309_0330

6.Masked up area removed , edges slightly sanded back to make it look a bit more presentable for now
Project Tidy P250309_0345

here is the state it is currently in

its far from complete and there are cracks on the underneath so i believe there has been filler used so i will need to get that back some out and smooth it down , my plan is to refill it smooth to fill the cracks and then sand back to a level surface.

Smile

well i think you could sand it down with really corse an thn give it a skim of filler then sand down with less course an build up in primer thn paint etc etc

mask up your door an side strip and repeater and spray the repaired bit at the bottom and work your way up the wing with the paint so u can blend it in

once all is dry giv it a good polish with some cut back wax or compound
